New service to 'makesure' businesses comply
Businesses across the south can benefit from legal expertise to guide them through the minefield of commercial contracts and legislation – thanks to a new initiative launched this week (March 4/5) by Hampshire law firm, Moore Blatch.
Due to be launched at Business South on March 4/5, Makesure is an audit service designed to check the standard contracts and internal policies of businesses – along with websites and communications with suppliers – to ensure they do not fall foul of existing or new government legislation.
“In the current financial climate, many companies are busy just trying to stay afloat,” said Sarah Crookall, senior solicitor in the company commercial department of Moore Blatch. “The last thing they want to think about is whether their contracts are compliant with current legislation and more importantly will protect them legally, particularly in relation to disputes with customers and making sure they get paid. That’s where we can help.”
Contracts, internal policies, websites and external communications all expose businesses legally – and experts at Moore Blatch have developed Makesure to help protect them.
“We offer peace of mind,” continued Sarah. “Our highly experienced team of commercial lawyers is recognised by both Chambers UK and Legal 500 – and are extremely well placed to check through clients’ contracts and procedures to make sure they protect the client and are legally compliant.”
Makesure provides expert advice – and clients’ contracts are examined in light of:
- Unfair contract terms
- Consumer law
- Intellectual property
- Data protection
- IT and commerce; and distance selling via phone, direct mail, email or website
- Guarantees
- Sales and marketing – advertising, branding and design
- Directors’ duties
“We can identify whether a clients’ existing contracts meet the clients’ needs or are non-compliant – and give advice about how they can be amended,” said Sarah. “Not only that, but we can revisit each year to check documents are still appropriate and in line with the client’s business and current legislation.”
Under Makesure, businesses can also benefit from small-group training seminars, highlighting a range of commercial issues. Lawyers are also on hand through a telephone helpline service– offering quick, practical and commercial legal advice.
