If you have a hearing problem and you used to work in a noisy environment, you may be able to claim compensation. Tim Blackwell, Partner

NIHL is hearing loss or tinnitus resulting from working in a noisy environment and being exposed to damaging levels of noise regularly over a period of time.  It may take several years between being exposed to noise and the hearing loss being noticed.

Employers have a legal duty to protect their employees from excessive hearing loss and to provide suitable personal protective equipment.

Workers most affected by hearing difficulties as a result of industrial exposure include, factory workers, production workers, miners, printers and military personnel.

Members of our industrial disease team would be pleased to discuss whether you have a potential claim.  Please have as much information as possible as to the exact nature of your condition, whether you have had a hearing test and about your past occupations and employers.  This discussion would be confidential, free and with no obligation to proceed.
